You never give a talk/presentation/speech for you. Rather, if you want the audience to benefit from your content, you must shift the focus from you, the presenter, to your audience where it needs to be.
But how do you know who your audience is?
Ask questions!
If you’re asked to give a presentation on your team’s performance, ask who you are presenting to. Is it a team of managers, a parallel team to yours, the C-Suite leadership team? The same goes if you’re giving a keynote speech! You need to find out who is in the room.
Ask the person who tapped you to present about the audience. Who are they? Why are they in the audience?
